1839:
After serving at money exchange
shops and
becoming independent in 1839,
the founder,
Tosuke Yamamoto established his
own store
in Osaka titled 'KANEHIRA'. The
business
became well under way when he
used iron sand
refinery techniques and wholesaling
the steel
material to hardware and cutlery
stores. |

1869:
After the Meiji Restoration,
the business
started growing rapidly with
increase in
demand of steel.Also, he started
directly
trading with foreign commercial
office in
Kobe and took the initiative
in importing
steel from Europe in Kansai area.
1933:
Financed by Yamamoto family,
Sanyo Steel
Works(later Sanyo Steel Co.,
Ltd.) was established
and entered into steel production.
1934:
Tosaku Yamamoto&Co. were
established.
1945:
The operation of business was
temporally
closed since the end of the war.
1947:
Losing the management rights
of Sanyo Steel
Co., Ltd.(presently Sanyo Special
Steel Co.,
Ltd.)
1949:
The operation resumed and start
to pick up
the ground as the industries
made a comeback
along with Japan's postwar rehabilitation.
At this time, the company becomes
the designated
wholesaler of Kobe Steel Co.,
Ltd.and Osaka
Steel (presently Godo Steel Co.,
Ltd.)

1955:
Tosaku Yamamoto&Co. were
renewed to Tosaku
Yamamoto Co., Ltd. with taking
over all the
assets and debts. Through the
acquisition
of reinforcing bar division of
Onoya&Co.
and establishment of the Ono
Steel Co., Ltd.
the company launches into concrete-bar
machining
and assembling business. |

1970:
The new office was built, and
the name of
the company was changed to Kanehira
Steel
Co., Ltd. In addition, the new
Steel Products
Center was opened in Osaka South
Harbor as
the base for distribution and
established
Just-In-Time delivery system.
In the meantime,
Kanematsu Steel Co., Ltd. was
founded in
order to increase sales of North
Shore District.
Introduction of computer system
was launched
for handling increased data.
1971:
Onto Steel&Co. was consolidated
into
Kanehira Steel Co., Ltd.
1973:
The new office is opened as the
second-stage
construction of Nankoh Steel
Products center
is completed. Monthly sales volume
exceeded
15,000 tons for the first time.
1974:
Tokyo branch office is opened
intending to
expand network and the market
in Tokyo area.
1979:
Monthly sales volume reached
to 20,000 tons. |

1980s |

1980:
Exchange of data with suppliers(blast
furnace
manufacturers) using magnetic
tape started.
1983:
Tokyo and Himeji offices moved
to the new
address.
1984:
Company to company data exchange
was linked
with an on-line network system.
1986:
SunMetal Co., Ltd. was established
and going
into new area of business.
1987:
Tokyo sales office was renamed
to Tokyo Branch
office due to the expansion of
business.
Meanwhile in order to overcome
against the
strong 'Yen', office was combined
into the
head office in Osaka. |

1995:
An on-line network system was
put into program
inside the company(each worker/computer).
1998:
International Division was established.
1999:
Fukuyama sales office opened
